We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continuous support.
The following is our business overview of the 11th term. |
|
|
Thanks to a remarkable progress of life science based on proteomics and genomics, researches leading to discovery of molecularly targeted drug, therapeutic antibodies and biomarkers as well as establishment of iPS cells have been rapidly promoted. These newly developed researches bring about innovation in the field of medical science and treatment.
The biotech industry develops and supplies various tools and measuring instruments essential for these researches, but competition in the market is increasingly severe to respond to customers' more specific research themes and needs for affordable prices.
Under such circumstances, we have been distributing knockout mice, antibodies, and their related products and services useful for drug discovery and basic researches to laboratories of universities and pharmaceutical companies, while actively promoting licensing business of our own technologies and innovative seeds. |

Aiming for establishing cancer diagnostic methods using antibodies. |
|
We are promoting research and development on new assay systems using antibodies to diagnose various diseases. As for this effort, we concluded a license agreement with a diagnostic reagent manufacturer regarding cancer diagnosis using urine samples in July 2008, and development of diagnostic regents advanced into the next stage.
Furthermore in October 2008, we filed a patent application with National Cancer Center for an antibody against pancreatic cancer marker and its diagnostic application, which was an achievement of the joint research. We and National Cancer Center also started a project to discover new tumor markers in January 2009.
We will continue these efforts to aim for establishing cancer diagnostic methods using antibodies developed by us.
