Agreement Concluded with Mitsubishi Kagaku Institute of Life Sciences to
License Right to Use Gene Knockout Mice

We hereby inform you that as part of our business to nonexclusively provide information on gene knockout mice in our possession, we concluded an agreement with Mitsubishi Kagaku Institute of Life Sciences (Machida, Tokyo) on September 29, 2005, to license the right to use a specific strain of gene knockout mice

We establish a library of gene knockout mice created by exchangeable gene trapping, so as to nonexclusively provide pharmaceutical companies and research institutes with in vivo gene information from the library.

As part of that business, we concluded the aforementioned agreement with Mitsubishi Kagaku Institute of Life Sciences. Although the functions and usefulness of the said gene and gene knockout mice remain undetermined at present, there is a hope that new gene functions can be elucidated in the future through various R & D activities of Mitsubishi Kagaku Institute of Life Sciences, using our gene knockout mice in accordance with said agreement.

The effects of said agreement on our future business performance are unknown, but the performance projection for fiscal term ending March 2006 thus far remains unchanged.
