We concluded a contract research agreement with JST
on October 1, 2006 regarding qdevelopment of next-generation gallbladder
tumor markers for early detection of carcinomaq・ a subject selected
for the program (see JSTq・ press release on September 20, 2006),
and started to act as a qseeds verification producerq・accordingly.
The program of JST aims to connect seeds candidate
that is found out through industry's viewpoint from basic research
in universities, national and other public research institutes
to innovation creation.
We have focused on an achievement regarding specific
gallbladder cancer diagnosis, made by Dr. Nobuo Sakaguchi, professor
of Faculty of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kumamoto University,
as a new seeds candidate. As a seeds verification producer, we
will carry out research and development with Kumamoto University
to
put it into practical use as a clinical diagnostic reagent. The
seeds candidate has a
possibility to develop a higher sensitive and higher specific assay
system against gallbladder cancer compared to conventional tumor
markers, and is expected to be commercialized as a clinical diagnostic
reagent.
We and Dr. Sakaguchi have successfully commercialized
qhigh-affinity antibody producing technology using GANP mouse (international
patent publication number: WO2004/040971)q・ Once feasibility of
the seeds candidate is verified through the contract research,
we will cooperatively conduct research and development to commercialize
it.
The potential influences of this matter on our business
performance for the fiscal term ending March, 2007 are as yet immaterial.
Please see a list of subjects adopted for the 2nd qCollaborative
Development of Innovation Seeds, Potentiality Verification Stageq・
in FY 2006.
