TRANS GENIC INC.

TRANS GENIC’s Subject was Selected for “Science and Technology Incubation Program in Advanced Regions” by Japan Science and Technology Agency

We hereby announce that “Research to develop a IR/MAR gene amplification method to be an essential technology to produce proteins”, a subject which TRANS GENIC INC. (hereinafter referred to as “we”) and Hiroshima University had applied for “Science and Technology Incubation Program in Advanced Regions” (hereinafter referred to as “the program”), was adopted by Japan Science and Technology Agency. The program is a part of Comprehensive Support Programs for Creation of Regional Innovation promoted by the Agency.

The purpose of the program is to create innovation in various regions across Japan through commercialization of research achievements of universities with their local industry-government-academia collaboration. Therefore, researches promoted under the program are expected to be technologically innovative and produce marketable results.

We introduced a technology to produce mammalian cells expressing a large amount of proteins using IR/MAR vectors invented by Dr. Noriaki Shimizu, professor of Graduate School of Biosphere Science, Hiroshima University, to launch a new business in April, 2007. We will start joint research with Dr. Shimizu and his research group for three years from April, 2009.

The adoption of the subject for the program will not have a material impact on our business and financial performance for the fiscal term ending March 2009.
