Our company custom-produces gene-disrupted (knockout) mice and gene-inserted (knock-in) mice.
Based on the vector desired by the customer, we establish genetically engineered ES cells and produce mice from them. Moreover, our highly experienced staff is able to listen to the customer’s wishes and then propose a genetic structure for producing the optimal genetically engineered mouse.

Our Company’s Distinguishing Features

An Abundance of Genetically Engineered Mouse Strains and ES Cell Lines
Since our company’s founding, its core business has been the production of genetically engineered mice. To date, we have established more than 750 strains of knockout mice and over 2,000 strains of knockout ES cells. Using these resources, we also design and construct genetically engineered alleles.
Our results in producing chimeric mice also evidence high efficiency in germline transmission. This enables us to obtain genetically engineered mice from recombined ES cells with a high probability.


Using our accumulated experience and know-how to the maximum, we support the research of customers.

For ES Cells, We Use the RENKA Strain (from the C57BL/6 Strain)
As an ES cell line able to change into ES cells of 129 strains, our company uses the RENKA cell line, derived from the C57BL/6 strain established by Professor Kenji Sakimura and others at Niigata University. The kinds of brain damage and other problems seen in 129 strains are not seen in the C57BL/6 strain, and the RENKA cell line is known for high efficiency in germline transmission. Also, since it is derived from the C57BL/6 strain, backcrossing is unnecessary. It is a strain that is extremely useful in research that employs genetically engineered mice.
Based on the customer’s wishes, we can also produce genetically engineered mice from BALB/c, TT2 or 129/Sv instead of RENKA. Please feel free to contact us.

Production Is Begun after Conclusion of a Confidentiality Agreement
At our company, we conclude a confidentiality agreement at the same time as the basic contract. The customer is thus able to enter into the contract with peace of mind.

We Can Produce Both Conventional Knockout Mice and Conditional Knockout Mice
Knockout mice can be divided into two types. One is a conventional knockout mouse. This is a mouse in which a region of the genome that includes an exon is replaced with a drug-resistant gene. This method disrupts a nonfatal gene. The targeted gene is disrupted in all the mouse’s cells.
By contrast, the conditional knockout method is used when you want to disrupt a fatal gene. This method employs Cre recombinase and FLP recombinase to disrupt a gene at a specific developmental stage or a specific site (organ).

We Can Also Produce Knock-in Mice
A knock-in mouse is a genetically engineered mouse into which a non-mouse gene (for example, a human gene or a bovine gene) has been introduced. It is also possible to introduce a gene in which a single base has been replaced with a gene from a mouse.

Freezing and Preservation of Sperm and Embryos of Genetically Engineered Mice
Our company freezes and preserves the sperm and embryos of the genetically engineered mice that we produce. We can also deliver frozen embryos produced with sperm obtained from genetically engineered mice.

Analysis and Support for Genetically Engineered Mice
We usually deliver heterozygous deficient mice. However, based on the customer’s wishes, we can also breed heterozygous deficient mice or produce homozygous deficient mice. Using custom phenotype analysis and our strains of ES cells, we also perform speed congenics.
