Speed Congenics

Trans Genic Inc. offers Speed Congenic Service to establish congenic mouse strain assisted with marker analysis. When producing genetically engineered mice in 129 strains or the BALB/c strain, various analyses are conducted following inbreeding and backcrossing with C57BL/6 strain. Conventional backcrossing is time- and cost-consuming process. It requires at least 10 generations – 3 to 5 years –to establish a congenic strain. Our Speed Congenic Service provides microsatellite marker analyses to establish congenic strains with a replacement rate of at least 99% in 1.5 years/5 generations. In order to establish a congenic strain quickly, we recommend to start microsatellite analysis at early generation to select highly replaced individual for using succeeding backcross.
